Transforming ALM Together: Rapid X at the SAP Cloud ALM Partner Event

Rapid X Participates in the Partners Event for SAP Cloud ALM

Rapid X was privileged to be invited to SAP's exclusive Partners Powered by SAP Cloud ALM Expert Forum 2024, held as part of the Customer Council for SAP Cloud ALM for Implementation and Operations. This event brought together key SAP Product Owners and partners to exchange experiences, share feedback, and shape the future of SAP Cloud ALM.

The forum provided an in-depth look at SAP Cloud ALM's expanding capabilities, highlighting key functionalities and enhancements planned for the next couple of years. It also offered valuable insights from partners on real-world use cases and best practices for transitioning customers to SAP Cloud ALM. The discussions also underscored the importance of collaboration within the partner ecosystem to refine and enhance SAP Cloud ALM’s capabilities.

Collaborating to Shape the Future of SAP Cloud ALM

During the two-day event, Rapid X gained invaluable insights from SAP Product Owners about the enhancement roadmap. The forum offered a unique opportunity to ask questions, where Rapid X was able to interact directly with the speakers, fostering deeper understanding and engagement with the audience. Furthermore, some partners shared their pain points and customer experiences, reaffirming SAP’s commitment to improving SAP Cloud ALM based on real-world feedback. The event also provided a platform to explore innovative functionalities, discuss new user interfaces, and review the priorities for SAP Cloud ALM, including its role in supporting AI use cases, API integrations, and enhanced project management.

Here are some of the key highlights:

  • RISE with SAP Methodology: SAP Cloud ALM is now a key enabler for the RISE with SAP methodology, helping organisations streamline transformation initiatives with pre-defined best practices and tools.
  • Process Hierarchy and Cross-Project Libraries: The introduction of process hierarchy and cross-project document libraries will enhance scalability, enabling reusability of documents and improving project alignment.
  • SAP BTP Document Management Service: Offers advanced document storage and management capabilities integrated with SAP Cloud ALM (officially available).
  • SAP Signavio Integration: Enhances business process management with robust modelling tools that integrate seamlessly with SAP Cloud ALM for implementation (officially available).
  • Test Management: Supports flexible test levels, including manual and automated testing, with significant enhancements planned for 2025 to expand its testing capabilities further (including Dedicated Authorisation roles, such as Test Manager and Tester, enablement of API for Manual Test Cases, Test Sequencing and more).
  • Release and Deployment Management: The maturing functionality currently supports flexible deployments but its goal is to handle complex projects better with features like Deployment Scheduler, Downgrade Protection, and Cross Reference Check, which are expected by 2025.
  • Operations Capabilities: Provides monitoring for both SAP and non-SAP applications with the use of external APIs, delivering practical solutions to ensure system stability and reliability through advanced analytics with significant enhancements planned for 2025, such as Integration of Joules in Alert Inbox for guided problem resolution based on GenAI, Deployment of authorisations for all monitoring use cased and much more.

It is important to highlight that all these enhancements are currently in the testing phase, and SAP may introduce changes at any time.

Why does this matter?

As the mainstream maintenance for SAP Solution Manager ends in 2027, businesses must transition to SAP Cloud ALM for a lightweight, cloud-based approach for implementation and operations or SAP Focused Run for advanced hybrid system monitoring. These platforms are pivotal in ensuring seamless operational efficiency, reducing disruptions, and future-proofing digital transformations.

At the forum, SAP confirmed its commitment to facilitating this transition with ongoing enhancements, customer councils, and live events, allowing partners like Rapid X to have a direct hand in shaping SAP Cloud ALM’s evolution.

The Benefits of Engagement

Participating in SAP's Customer Council opens doors for:

  • Direct Collaboration: Partners gain direct access to SAP Product Owners to influence new innovations and provide feedback on existing features, ensuring their operational and implementation needs are met.
  • Enhanced Visibility: Partners have opportunities to co-speak at SAP events, showcase their solutions, and position themselves as leaders in the SAP ecosystem.
  • Innovation Enablement: Through tools like APIs and the ALMathon initiative (ALM hackathon powered by the SAP ALM community), partners can create, share, and come up with solutions that extend SAP Cloud ALM’s capabilities. The Partner Hub was unveiled as a key enabler, providing a structured path (Bronze, Silver, Gold tiers) for sharing solutions with the broader SAP ecosystem, including own applications or standardised integrations to 3rd party solutions.
